Hyderabad to dethrone Bangalore as the Silicon Valley of India?
After Microsoft launched its only development centre outside the US in Hyderabad, Google is following suit. Google’s first such facility in Asia — one of its biggest outside the United States – will be made operational by the summer of 2019.
The tech giant has signed an MoU with the government of Telangana to build a facility of two million sq ft at an outlay of Rs 1,000 crore. Once operational, it will hold up to 13,000 employees – double the company’s present strength in India.
The interesting part is that Google’s facility is planned barely a stone throw away from the Microsoft facility. With the Telangana government keen on transforming the city into a tech hub, more suitors are expected to follow.
