Myntra to shut website from May1, will be available only as a mobile app
In a recent news reported by Times of India, Myntra will be shutting down its website on May 1 and will become only an app based retailer. The report further says that the online retailer is planning a major branding campaign to launch as a mobile-only platform.
Taking a cue from the fact that Myntra draws 80% of its traffic and 70% of sales from its mobile app, Myntra has taken the decision for the company’s good. Following this action, Myntra will become the first only mobile-based online retailer from being a web plus mobile retailer.
Mukesh Bansal, the founder of Myntra, has said earlier that they are trying to make Myntra 100% mobile-focused and for this they will invest in mobile platform development. To turn this mobile-focused strategy into reality, Myntra is also planning a 360-degree advertising and marketing campaign to announce its app-only presence. The campaign is expected to be announced in coming weeks.
Myntra made its Android debut on Android in May last year. It was acquired by India’s E-retail giant Flipkart for $300 million. Flipkart also gave hints about becoming an app only retail store last month.
