Facebook testing WhatsApp integration in its Android app

April 10, 2015

Facebook is reported to be testing new features on its ‘Facebook for Android’ app, as reported by geektime.

This new feature of Facebook app added a ‘Send’ button with WhatsApp icon. This button is the part of status action buttons which appears with each status updates. This new ‘Send’ button appears on the right side. This feature is there in the most recent version of the Facebook for Android app. This button lets you share a Facebook post with your WhatsApp friends and WhatsApp groups.

This is the first and important step by Facebook towards connecting the two platforms; one is Facebook, a social networking app with 600 and other WhatsApp, an instant messaging service with 600 million monthly active users and 700 million monthly active users respectively, in order to take over the market of messaging.

This marks the beginning of the integration of these mammoth messaging platforms. We can expect more of these ‘experiments’ in the near future.
