One Plus 2 release on the cards
Following the stellar success of Chinese manufacturer OnePlus’s flagship OnePlus One phone, everyone is eagerly awaiting its successor, the OnePlus2 (not the “OnePlus Two”, as earlier rumored).
Company co-founder Carl Pei turned heads earlier this week by announcing a “special event” on June 1, but to the disappointment of many, later added that it was not in connection with a “new device”.
Pei did confirm that the OnePlus 2 will function on the same, elusive invite system as the OnePlus One, but this time, the system will be ramped up a notch. He also revealed that the new phone will feature OxygenOS in western markets and a new HydrogenOS variant in Asia.
The slated release date is Q3, 2015, which means July, August or September.
With Huawei planning a follow-up to its flagship Honor 6, the Honor 7 around the same time, and Xiaomi Mi5 coming out in November, the stage is set for another showdown between the Chinese heavy duties, much to the delight of the customers.
