Microsoft took a bold step regarding Windows 10, in a conference held at WinHEC technology conference in Shenzhen, China. Windows officials have announced that they’ll be providing free update to all the devices running Windows 7 and 8, for free even if it a pirated one.

This has been done to ensure that a large number of devices get the latest windows OS. It has been found that in China, around 75% of Window users have a pirated copy. Free upgrade to Windows 10 will help Microsoft ‘re-engage’ with millions of Chinese users.

Earlier, Microsoft had announced that all users of Windows 7 and 8 will get a free upgrade to Windows 10, however only licensed products were to avail this update.

Microsoft is also reported to be working with Xiaomi technology Co Ltd. to offer some customers a test version of Windows 10 on their smartphones.
