News In A Snap!!

If you had a hard time deciding whether to compromise on quality or size whenever you downloaded a video, your days of the dilemma are over. A group of developers have developed an application library for encoding video streams into the H.265/High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) format.

The awesomeness of this .hevc format can be gauged by the fact that it provides 720p videos in approximately half the size as the previous videos. So, next time you search for any movie or video on torrent, make sure you add ‘x265’ to its name.

As of now you need to download a codec for VLC and other media players in order to watch x265 videos. Version of VLC (for Windows) compatible for playing x265 video can be downloaded for free here

The greatness of this project isn’t limited to providing high-quality videos in small size for free. This project is open source and interested developers can contribute to it, here.
