Facebook Launches

Mark Zuckerburg proved himself to be a man of his words. Following his vision to provide internet to more than a billion Indians, he announced the launch of website. Facebook teamed up with Reliance Communications to provide the above said facility, making India the first Asian country to get service.


The app, aimed at low income and rural users, will offer free access via mobile phone to more than 35 web services – Job listings, agricultural information, healthcare and education sites being the main areas. The content is available in seven regional languages — as well as Facebook’s own social network and messaging services.
Reliance customers in India can access these services in the Android app, at, from the start screen of the Opera Mini mobile web browser, and using the Android app UC Browser for Most of the services will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Gujarati and Marathi.

Facebook’s services have previously been rolled in Zambia, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and Columbia.
